Fork Lift Truck

  • Has your company made sure Health and Safety at Work requirements with regard to 'Rider Operator Lift Trucks Relating to Lift Truck Training' has been met?
  • Do your operators hold certificates of basic operator training issued by an approved training provider?
  • Are your operators using your lift trucks in a safe and efficient manner?

Regulation 9 of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) requires that: "Every employer shall ensure that all persons who use work equipment have received adequate training for purposes of Health and Safety".

A1 can help your company meet Health and Safety requirements through the delivery of approved  ITSSAR Fork Lift Truck (FLT) training. A1 instructors are fully approved and registered with RTITB & ITSSAR

A wide range of well structured FLT courses are available to suit all levels of experience. A1 is proud of its excellent pass rates and all training takes place in their modern training centres or on clients premises.

5 Day Novice Operator

This course is designed for the person with little or no experience of lift truck operation. The candidate receives tuition in safe operating techniques, which includes closely supervised practice in simulated but realistic working areas. The theory of lift truck operation is amply covered through classroom tuition and training films.

At the end of the course the trainee will take both a written and a practical test and successful operators will be issued with a certificate of basic training endorsed by ITSSAR.

3 Day Experienced Operator

Designed specifically for the experienced operator who has not had the benefit of formal training or where corrective tuition is required. The course timetable allows the operator ample time to develop and improve their operating skills under supervision, whilst providing the necessary theoretical knowledge of safe working practices and relevant legislation through classroom sessions supported by training films.

At the end of the course the trainee will take both a written and a practical test and successful operators will be issued with a certificate of basic training endorsed by ITSSAR.

1 Day Refresher

It is stated the Health & Safety Commission Approved Code of Practice (L117) that "even trained and experienced lift truck operators need to be re-assessed from time to time to ensure that they continue to operate lift trucks safely. This assessment, which should form part of a firms normal monitoring procedure and be formally time-tabled to ensure that it is done at reasonable intervals, will indicate whether any further training is needed. Employers can, of course, decide that automatic retraining after a set period of time is the best way of ensuring employees are adequately trained."

A1 offers a 1 day training course, which consists of theory to up-date on new legislation and operating standards, remedial training and final theoretical and practical examinations.

On-site Training

All lift truck operator training courses (novice, experienced, refresher and conversion) can be the delivered on customer premises anywhere in Great Britain provided they have:
1.A mechanically sound fork lift truck for use throughout the duration of the course
2.An area that can be closed off for training purposes
3.Suitable loads to be moved with the fork lift truck
4.A quiet room with a power supply.
A maximum of three trainees can attend the course at any one time.
