Reach FLT Training
Reach Forklift Truck Training & Certification
A1 Training Group’s Reach Truck Training courses are designed to help you and your team operate reach forklifts safely and efficiently in the workplace. It’s suitable for people at all skill levels — from beginners looking to gain confidence, to experienced operators who need formal certification or a skills update.
A reach truck is specifically built for narrow-aisle, high-racking environments; it uses stabilising legs on each side and a reaching mast that extends forward to place or retrieve loads stored at significant heights. Reach trucks are optimised for indoor use, offering superior lift height and manoeuvrability but have limited outdoor capability.
At the end of the training, every participant completes both a written and practical assessment to demonstrate their knowledge and ability. Those who successfully pass receive a certificate of basic training endorsed by ITSSAR, showing they are competent to operate reach forklift trucks in line with industry standards.
To help businesses or individuals maintain safety and compliance over time, A1 Training Group also offers fofklift refresher courses. These one-day sessions revisit key points of theory, including changes in legislation and end with updated practical and theoretical assessments.

Training is structured to ensure that learners understand not just the practical controls of the reach truck, but also the underlying safety principles and legal requirements that keep workplaces compliant and accident-free.
The Reach FLT courses cover essential topics that improve both safety awareness and operational skills. Course content typically includes:
• Overview of health and safety law relevant to forklift operations, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
• Understanding how the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) affect truck operators
• Basic lifting principles and the specific design and function of reach trucks
• Factors affecting stability and how to manage them safely
• Steering and manoeuvring techniques — both forward and in reverse — in different workplace conditions
• Techniques for raising, lowering and transporting palletised loads
• Correct methods for stacking and de-stacking pallets at both ground and elevated levels
• Battery care and maintenance practices to help prolong equipment life and ensure safe operation
Whether you are training new staff or updating the certification of existing operators, this course helps organisations meet health and safety responsibilities while building operator confidence and skill.
